As NXP’s S32K series A member of automotive-grade microcontrollers, the S32K ISELED device has the same functionality as the other members and adds the ISELED communication protocol. ISELED is an open consortium dedicated to delivering next-generation smart LED lighting technology specifically for automotive and industrial applications .
The ISELED protocol avoids expensive external processing and ensures a good balance of light parameters through tighter calibration and better processing control over RGB LEDs. NXP S32K ISELED microcontroller features 32-bit Arm based® Cortex® processing power and access to the ISELED ecosystem, providing engineers with complete hardware and software solutions that enable them to create the dynamic sequences and light parameters required for next-generation smart LED lighting applications.
The S32K ISELED devices, available from Mouser Electronics, are automotive-grade microcontrollers with Arm Cortex-M0+ cores (S32K11x series) or Arm Cortex-M4F cores (S32K14x series) that include a production license and a dedicated device for running the ISELED serial communication protocol driver. The ISELED software driver runs in the S32 Design Studio IDE or the production-grade SDK pre-installed in the AUTOSAR environment. Due to its powerful functionality and processing power, each microcontroller can act as a single external master controller in the ISELED ecosystem.
To support low-cost evaluation and development, Mouser also offers the NXP S32K EVB series of evaluation boards, including the S32K144EVB. Based on the S32K144 microcontroller, the S32K144EVB has a standardized form factor that is compatible with the Arduino Uno pinout, providing a wealth of expansion board options for rapid prototyping and demonstration of applications.
