H3C’s LoRa-based wireless networking smart door lock solution creates a smart campus

In order to improve campus security and intelligent management capabilities, colleges and universities are constantly seeking solutions. The emergence of smart door lock applications has brought smart, efficient and convenient management to student apartments, and has also given students a new experience. Most traditional college dormitories use mechanical door locks. Dorm management personnel manage a large number of door lock keys, and the keys are collected and redistributed in batches every year. The use of wireless smart door locks can completely avoid these cumbersome and make dormitory management more efficient.

H3C has launched a LoRa®-based campus wireless networking smart door lock solution, using LoRa® devices and LoRaWAN® protocol to create a wireless networking smart door lock application to achieve safer and more intelligent campus management

New H3C Group (hereinafter referred to as “H3C”), the core enterprise of Tsinghua Unigroup, is a leader in digital solutions. Smart campus is one of the markets that H3C focuses on, and the safety management of student apartments has become a key scene in the current construction of smart campuses. In order to help realize the intelligent management of campus, H3C joined hands with Deschmann, a top smart door lock manufacturer in China, to create a LoRa® smart door lock specially designed for campus scenarios.

The whole solution relies on the core architecture of H3C IoT “one network, one platform”. The solution consists of four parts: smart door locks, integrated IoT gateways, Oasis IoT platform and door lock management platform. The smart door lock in the solution is networked with LoRa devices and can support the standard LoRaWAN® protocol. The smart door lock cooperates with the door lock management application based on the Oasis Internet of Things platform to realize the unified issuance of students’ check-in lists, and the real-time upload of students’ unlocking records.

The LoRa wireless networking smart door lock realized by the combination of LoRa devices and the Oasis IoT platform has the following characteristics:

・ 6 unlocking methods: fingerprint, password, card, mechanical key, WeChat applet and remote unlocking on the management platform

・ Low power consumption: battery powered (4 cells on the 5th), with a battery life of more than 1 year (calculated by opening the door 10 times a day)

・ Self-built network: self-built network on demand, data security is guaranteed, and no additional network charges are required

・ Strong coverage: For floors with a corridor length of less than 70m, only one indoor LoRa gateway can be used for coverage on each floor

・ Large number of accesses: a single LoRa gateway accesses at least 400 door locks

・Integrated converged network: Adopt indoor converged gateway solution, perfectly integrated with IoT AP, low network construction cost

・ Convenient management: LoRa gateway and door lock application are managed in a unified manner through the platform, which greatly reduces operating costs

・ The door lock management application supports quick docking with the one-card system, enabling easy business online

・ Students’ fingerprints are entered through the WeChat applet, and the fingerprint data is stored locally in the door lock to protect students’ privacy

“Using Semtech’s innovative LoRa device and standard LoRaWAN protocol, a campus-specific smart door lock solution has been created, which significantly improves the management efficiency of student apartments. The student apartment management unit can realize the unified issuance of student check-in lists, completely eliminating traditional keys. The tedious work of batch distribution and recycling.” Liu Chen, director of H3C’s wireless product management department, said, “We have specially customized the ‘smart door lock + management application’ for the student apartment scene. It can be uploaded in real time, which not only strengthens the safety management of student apartments, but also provides accurate data support for student portraits and behavior analysis, and further strengthens safety management methods.”

In addition to the campus wireless smart door lock solution, H3C uses its Oasis IoT platform and LoRa devices to provide a complete smart campus solution. Based on “one network, one platform”, it can carry different scenario-based applications and realize scenario-oriented objects. Network integration.

Through its own products and 100+ industry partners in the industrial ecosystem, H3C can provide schools with scenario-based solutions such as asset management, energy consumption management, smart fire protection and smart property.

“New H3C is an important member of Semtech’s LoRa ecosystem and has been committed to the development of innovative applications based on LoRa. It is great to see them launch a LoRa-based wireless networked smart door lock application to help create a safer and smarter campus environment. Huang Xudong, vice president of sales at Semtech China, said, “LoRa devices can also be combined with other IoT applications such as campus energy consumption management and smart fire protection to fully support the construction of smart campuses.”
